Introduction to
Farscape:
Farscape is a program which is about an
astronaut from Earth (John Crichton), who, while trying to fly
his shuttle, accidentally shoots himself through a worm-hole, and
finds himself lost in the universe on board a living ship, full
of alien life forms (At last. We come to know that we are not
alone in the universe). Crichton comes out of the worm hole, in
the middle of a battle between the species called the
Peacekeepers, and a ship called Moya, carrying a Luxon (Ka D'Argo),
a Delvian (Zhaan)
and a Hynerian (Rygel XVI). Crichton accidentally crashes into a
prowler which belonged to the Peacekeepers' leader (Crais)
brother, killing him. Crais is so mad when he learns about his
brother's death, that he swears to kill Crichton along with the
others on board Moya. Meanwhile, Crichton is brought aboard Moya,
and injected with "Translating Microbes", enabling him
to speak to and understand the aliens' language. Moya then
starbursts out of that area, dragging along a peacekeeper warrior
, Aeryn Sun. Aeryn and Crichton are taken prisoners by the crew of
Moya. Later on, they manage to escape from Moya, and return to
the Peacekeeper battle cruiser, where Crais takes Crichton
prisoner. However, when Aeryn vouches for John, saying that he is
harmless, Crais declares her irreversibly contaminated due to
over exposure to an unknown life form. Crichton and Aeryn escape
from Crais when D'Argo comes down to rescue them. Meanwhile, the
peacekeepers surround Moya. Crichton then helps everyone to
escape as Moya could not starburst then.

Why Farscape is boucoup
cool:
The creators of Farscape really did an
excellent job in making it. The sets were realistic. It really
gets the viewer on the edge of his seat. The effects to create
the aliens were ultra-cool. The story in every episode was
excellent, except Rhapsody in blue and Jeremiah Crichton. I mean,
who would expect to see Crichton with a beard ?Also, the story
was re-e-e-e-e-ally dullllll (YAWN) .Rhapsody in blue had a story
which I did not quite understand. What the hell was all that crap
about "unity" and Zhaan killing her ex-boyfriend ,and
that they wanted her to do it again ????Beats me. However, the
other episodes, especially "The Flax", "A Human
Reaction" and "Durka Returns" (to name a few),
were excellent. "Family Ties" really brought tears to
my eyes (All right! I admit I'm a sap.). That was one episode
that really touches the emotions of a viewer..

The Cast of Farscape:
John Crichton is played by Ben
Browder.
Ben has put his heart in the series. The way he presents himself
as John Crichton is really cool. No, he's not the super hero type
of guy, but a typical human being. He shares a good time with the
crew of Moya, helps them in their time of need, is sad when
anything bad happens to them, and fights to make things right.
Aeryn Sun is played by Claudia Black.
Claudia plays the no nonsense, kick-ass Peacekeeper warrior Aeryn
Sun in Farscape.Aeryn joins the crew of Moya after her commander
Crais responds to her assertion that Crichton is harmless by
becoming convinced that she has been contaminated by contact with
aliens.Aeryn has been portrayed as the kind of person who doesn't
take slack from anyone It is when Aeryn takes control of combat
situations that she is in her element. More than physical beauty
or an important supportive role in the unfolding story, the
strength and determination that she repeatedly shows when
situations become difficult sets her character apart as possibly
the most heroic of them all.
Ka D'Argo is played by Anthony Simcoe
At first glance, D'Argo would appear to be the kind of guy you
wouldn't even have had a nightmare about.
D'Argo is oddly bony and he's got tenticles all over. His
respiration reeks as fiercly as he behaves, yet he has a more
sensitive sense of smell than the rest of the crew. His special
sword doubles as a ray gun, which is one of the more classy new
Space Opera elements that the creators of this series have come
up with. D'Argo tends to be aligned with Aeryn as a fighter
rather than a thinker, and the way he comes closer Crichton over
time as they confront various situations together is really
interesting.
Zhaan is played by Virginia
Hey
Zhaan is a Delvian, which has a combination of spiritual
and sexual implications. Some of the time she functions as a
priest, or Pa'u, which gives her some almost magical
powers which are critical to resolving the plots of several
episodes. Her ability to coordinate activity and heal also
consistently supports the action.
Perhaps her greatest contribution to the show, however, is her presence as a mysterious and alluring blue woman. Zhaan is remarkably unreserved about her physical features and erotic nature. As for myself, I find all the serious contact lens action that goes with her role to be the most captivating part. But, hell, don't take my word for it.Go watch Farscape.
